I just stumbled across this soap and upon further investigation found that you have to buy a membership in order to have the right to purchase this soap at $37 a tub. I can’t even look at the scent notes unless I’m a club member. I will stick with “regular guy” soaps like CBL & Stirling that just let you buy what you want and not make you become an exclusive club member to look at and buy products. Maybe I’m out of line or just cheap, but this is insane to me.

I like the label, but that's not enough for me to pay to look at it. Heck, if it's a "vegan" soap, then I just spent money to not buy it. Too many proven soaps that are free to see what's in them.

I believe that is the A&E membership group is it not? Silly, yea, but folks seem to eat up exclusivity. A&E has a decent rap afterall.

The A&E Club membership isn't that bad of a deal. It is like $13 for six months and that gets you a discount on all of their products. Just make sure you order enough to recuperate the cost of the membership before it expires. There are some really good scents in the members area.

I should have paid better attention, it also includes the splash, so $37 for the set is not too bad except that it it really $50 for the set when you figure in the required membership. And probably more for shipping.

Where did you see it? I’m a member and just checked. It’s not listed on the webpage.

So, find a few other things to order. Stock up on several items to spread out the cost of the membership. You are correct that the membership doesn't make sense if you are only going to order one thing. A&E has a ton of fun and interesting scents, however.

I really do not need another soap, I need to work through several new tubs that I have acquired in my first few months of wet shaving. So far this switch to wet shaving is costing me way more than it is saving me 🤣. I figure to start saving money I really don’t need to buy anything until at least 2024. 🤣

I was just really interested in the scent notes and the cool artwork on the lid. Interesting phrase on the side of the “woody” .

We all got into wetshaving to save money and ended up spending much, much more than we ever did on carts and canned goo. It went from a chore to a hobby.

A&E makes some killer scents. They are also fairly reasonable in their pricing. The membership, can work out and is a reasonable price, if you are going to buy lots of stuff. But, I totally get where you are coming from. I don't like the exclusivity of it. A&E doesn't bother me nearly as much as The Holy Black. At least with A&E you can get equal access to everyone else if you are willing to pony up the $13 bucks every six months.

I was a member of the club for a bit. I used it to buy several soap and AS sets and then I cancelled just before it renewed. I feel like I got a good deal out of it.

I'm definitely in the same boat, Dave. I know they have high quality products, but I'm not interested in paying for exclusivity. I get Doug's thinking, and it makes sense, just not for me. I'm not letting FOMO control me anymore.......for the most part.

Great point. I’m just not at the point to get into that type of membership club right now and I really need to work On what I have acquired so far.

I hear you about the spending part of this hobby, but there are just too many great products out there. Just don’t tell my wife how much I have spent on shaving products😁. I actually will not ever add up what I have spent because so far this journey down the rabbit hole of wet shaving has been an absolute blast. I have never enjoyed shaving this much in my life, it went from something I had to do to something I love to do daily. And how many shaving forums are dedicated to cartridge and disposable razors?
