The Infamous Bic Astor

Bogeyman

Shave Member
I used this blade tonight in my new Mühle TAOS (R89 head) in concert with CBL Vetiver (last year's batch) on a 2 day beard and was rewarded with a spectacular shave! This blade had one or two usages on it (can't remember :giggle: ). The Bic Astor is an oft maligned blade with many complaining it's very rough/dull. To be honest, I claimed that as well years ago when I first started DE/SE shaving and am not ashamed to admit that it was clearly user error. I did not have a perfected technique as well as proper prep down yet. I am glad I bought two blades recently on a whim for "revisitation" as these are incredibly keen, i.e., smooth. When a shaver is new to DE/SE the issue is often the "Indian" and not the "arrow" so to speak. (y)

I have about five sporadic shaves on this one blade so far and it is still unbelievably smooth. Tonight, it scythed through 1½ days of beard with aplomb using Lisa's Dunnottar and a post-war "ball end" English Tech. I am stunned to say the least!! 👍
