Shave Newbie
Perhaps the best way to introduce myself is 1/20th history and 19/20th current shaving status.

Historically, I have been deeply entrenched in rabbit holes: colonial paper currency, high-end and customized flashlights, .22 LR target shooting and a high-end knife collection. As for shaving, after learning in the 1960s on Gillettes, Schicks, canned foam and Old Spice, I Mach 3ed myself from the late 1990s until March 2022.

Currently, my wet shaving ROTATIONS are:

Pre-Shave - Grooming Dept.

Soaps - Proraso Red tub, Barrister & Mann Nordost Smoked Orange and The Body Shop's Maca Root & Aloe Shave Cream. Have a few dozen others awaiting their turns.

Bowl - Marble.

Brushes - Simpson's Trafalgar T1, Yaqi Sagrada Familia, Simpsons Duke 3, APShaveco Synbad, Razorock Plissoft Disruptor, Muhle STF, and Semogue Owners Club Mistura. Tried, but did not enjoy, horse hair and boar. I do not splay, favoring dobbing with tips and painting, therefore choosing dense, small and short brushes.

Razors - Gamechanger (.68 & .94), The Winning Razor, Yates 921 SS ( M & H), Karve Overlander Brass and Gillette Slim (1967) from Backroads Gold. Vintage Krona and Gillette Tech didn't work for me. Really enjoy varying these tools. Keeps my technique fresh. Favor heavy razors. Lupo 58 SB incoming.

Blades - After sampling ~ 20 different brands/types, have settled upon Wizamet, Nacet, and GSB. 7 O'Clock Blacks have been a recent discovery.

Aftershaves - Witch Hazel followed by one of five splashes from soap makers.

Techniques - Mapped face, two passes (with and against) with buffing, slow and short strokes, allow razor to determine angle and don't chase BBS on every shave.

What I have/use in equipment is infinitesimal compared to the wealth of wisdom, experiences, generosity and good graces of various wet shaving forums' members.

Thank you for having me here.

Welcome! In every category, as I read, I came across an item that made me go, "Ah! Yes!" You've got some stuff I really love. Three for three on blades. Nordost is an all-time short list soap for me... I could go on. But you've got a great collection of items!

Our techniques are a bit different, of course. So are our faces.

It's great to have you here. I hope you enjoy the fine people here and get as much from the Cadre as I do!

Welcome aboard !!. I hope you enjoy your time here with all of us... Just a warning some of these characters here can get a little bizarre at times , but they're Mostly harmless !! ;):):D:ROFLMAO: Oh and as an added thought, we have a tendency to joke around a lot here but it is all meant in fun....

Welcome. That’s some great gear to work with. I love my razorock GC.84 and Lupo DC. I wasn’t a fan of boar until I did an intense break in but now I love my Omega Pro $9.99.

No, no experience with straights. Candidly, at my age and questionable eye/hand dexterity, no plans to go there. Blood offerings to the shave gods are currently adequate.
I completely understand and I'm glad that you value your good looks over being a daredevil! :-)

Do you collect any vintage shaving items as well or are you more of a utilitarian shaver?

No. Unlike prior "black hole" hobbies, I am using or will use all items in my stash. The two vintage razors did not work well for me.
Which vintage razors have you tried?

I'm on the other end of the spectrum. I collect vintage soaps, aftershaves, blades, and everything you could think of except mugs. Loads of aspects to this hobby glad to see you didn't reach the Event Horizon of this black hole! YET!

I only own one new production safety razor(Supply Adjustable), but I own most varieties of Vintage Gillette and Schick as well as some pre-disposable blade razors like Heljestrand and Rolls Razor. I'm an antique shopper, so eventually I've found almost everything I wanted to try local to me. Personally I feel like the Gillette Sheraton and Schick Adjustable are my favorite safety razors. WITH THAT BEING SAID, 95% of my shaves are with straight razors. :)
