Just a quick test for the upcoming media platform and a look at how ( much abbreviated ) Honing regiment . A nice 6/8 Hart Steel with Custom scales.

Yes the most boring 5 minutes on the forum

This was the hone and Razor Chris (CMH737) sent to me. I lapped it with 2000 wet dry until it was completely reflective again, removing scratching, then a bit of Ultra fine steel wool, also Wet for final policy. This video was done after a complete Dilucot progression on a Coticule, follwed by some stropping.

Then onto the Black Ark with Smith's Honing Solution and a Diluark to plain running water still it stuck, Wonderful stone and edge. See my journal for 04.23.2018 for more detail

Not a trans ark, Yes I am a doofus, and not honing oil, I am a doofus twice. It was early in the AM, or late in the PM depending on your sleep pattern LOL

Rather than have straight razor honing vidoes spread all over the place I am going to post a couple of videos of some recent honing adventures. Both are razors sent to me by @kingfisher, one done entirely on slate (welsh trio with french vosges finish) the other on a mix of Coti and slate. I have a much longer and more detailed video that youtube is resisting, once i win my tech battle I'll post that one for the members looking for help sleeping at night.
I should mention, I use a bit more pressure than others and have a unique technique but these razors shave well so it proves a monkey like me can rub steel on a rock and get a shave ready edge.

Nice Chris! I used to have one of those slates, but never tried using lather or soap on it. Got into jnats and got a 5+ Narutaki asagi and fell in love with the edges I got. Haven't experimented much beyond that really. I did pick up a little coti that puts a really smooth edge on, but not as sharp.
