Spearhead & Seaforth ARE Going Out of Business

I happened upon a random post that Seaforth was closing up shop, but I couldn't find any context. Grok on X did a little digging for me and found a sub reddit with the full statement from Dennis it is below. I'm super sad to hear this, but I'm so glad I was able to pick up every one of his scents over the last few years. I'm a huge fan of the vintage Seaforth brand and was really excited to see they that Spearhead was resurrected. They produced this brand for about 4.5 years after it had been dead for around 40. A guy cannot complain! Good luck to them! Hurry, it sounds like he still has some stock left.

"Sorry in advance - this will be long. Seaforth & Spearhead were essentially born on this sub. I wanted you to be the first to know that we are winding down at the end of this year. It’s hard to describe how amazing the past 6 years have been. We went from selling experimental soap bases from a crock pot to reviving an iconic American brand and making several “best of” scents along the way. It’s surreal. Life changes around us. My kids are getting older and we’re spending more time with their activities. Work demands more travel time. Volunteer opportunities are keeping us busy. The time is right. I have zero regrets. Only heartfelt thanks. There is something unique and special that happens on this sub and in the wet shaving sphere. You reward the things you value and police the things you don’t. You give grace when it’s deserved, and often when it’s not. All of this creates an ecosystem for people to innovate and experiment. It’s “American Dream” stuff for small makers like me. I can’t think of anywhere else this is possible. Thank you.

Also, I can't give enough thanks to Shawn Maher (u/hawns) for creating all of the Seaforth scents. Somehow he managed to always be on the same wavelength. It never mattered whether the vision was vague and murky or crystal clear - the end product always managed to be better than I imagined. He is a true professional and a critical link in Seaforth’s revival.

So what’s next?:
I have wrapped up the last full batches of Seaforth and I’ll sell them until they are gone (or until the end of this year). I’m out of FO for Spiced, so sadly that scent is gone. I’ll sell the remaining razor cases, combs and brushes I have through the end of the year. Beyond that, the scent for Épée is still in the works. I am working on a plan to bring this scent to life and carry on the Seaforth tradition after I am done. I hope to have some news about it later this year. I didn’t want to leave you wondering what’s happening as things start going out of stock.

Thank you all for your support over the past 6 years. I’m proud of this little idea that grew into something bigger. I can’t thank you enough for your encouragement along the way."

Just saw this news on Reddit. Man; this sucks. Blackwatch is (soon to be WAS); my go to scent for the winter months. I'll have to try and track some down on the secondary market.
****Hopefully that bit at the end of his official statement means he's working on selling the rights/brand to someone that will continue the brand. (And hopefully he also sells his formulations). Dennis is a great guy, and a true gentleman. Always appreciated his great service, and his dedication to community (especially with his 3 Scots charitable donations). His presence in the community will be missed.

UPDATE: I received this news via an email this morning! Looks like they were picked up by the House of Mammoth! Seaforth LIVES!

Dear friends,
As you may already know, I have decided to wind down Spearhead and Seaforth. It was a six-year passion project that achieved more than I could have imagined, but the time is right to step back.
Vintage Seaforth faded into obscurity in the 70’s and 80’s. The hardest decision I faced was whether to let that happen again or have someone else carry on the vision.
I am elated to announce that
Ben Esposito will be taking over the Seaforth brand in 2026.
For most of our customers, Ben needs no introduction. You may know him and his team from House of Mammoth, whose products are among the most respected in the wet shaving space. His vision and approach to business are why I am most excited to pass the reins…
The spirit and vision of Seaforth have always been our top priorities. We view our collaborators, like Shawn Maher, as part of our team. The people who buy our products feel more like partners than customers. Ben treats his business the same way, and that makes me feel great about the future direction of Seaforth (see below for some thoughts from Ben)
Thank you all for allowing us to experience this adventure. It will always be among the things I am most proud of. I can’t wait to enjoy the next chapter as a spectator.

Hi everyone,
I’m truly honored by Dennis’s trust, and I’m excited to help guide Seaforth into its next chapter. My hope is to carry forward everything he built: the spirit, the heritage, and the sense of community that makes this brand special.
To keep things seamless, Vida from Chicago Grooming Co. will be making all Seaforth products with the same care and quality you’ve come to expect from both Seaforth and House of Mammoth. Everyone who’s enjoyed a Seaforth product knows the scents are beautifully done, thanks to Dennis and Shawn’s vision. We’re excited that Shawn is already working on the next Seaforth release, Epee.
We look forward to relaunching Seaforth in January 2026 and sharing more with you as we get closer. Thank you for being part of this journey! We look forward to serving you.

Todsy is a good day. Thx for the headsup matt!!

Wonder if they will still use the Highland base? Or if they will transfer them all over to the Tusk base? (* I prefer the Highland base) Wondering if they will have access to the same oils used by Dennis? I guess all questions will be answered in 2026. (sooner rather than later I hope)

Great news; straight from the source: They WILL continue using the Highland base. They have zero plans to merge the brands. They WILL be continuing the EDP's. Sadly; though, they will not be releasing toners. (They are continuing on from where Dennis left off, and the toners have been phased out for what?, year and a half, two years?

I’m a fan of Seaforth soap in this iteration. I’m looking forward to seeing how Mammoth does.
