No @NurseDave ..... not THOSE stockings.
Growing up, opening my stocking on Christmas morning was the thing I looked forward to most. The rule at my house was that whenever you woke up, you could immediately go and open your stocking. We usually didn't start opening any other presents until everyone was up and around and we ate breakfast. Breakfast was usually light, because after we were done at our house, we went to my Grandparents' house for a big brunch with the entire family.
I loved my stocking because usually it was filled with snacks, candy, and some fun toys or games that would keep me occupied until I got to open other presents. My Grandmother used to make stockings for everyone in the family: Her 8 kids, her 12 grandkids, and a multitude of great-grandkids. Me and my kids all have one from her, but they use them at their mother's house. And Amber never got the chance to get one from my grandmother before she passed.
My aunt does a lot of quilting, and I asked her a couple years ago, if she could make Amber and I, and the kids all new Stockings similar to the one's my grandmother had made. She outdid herself with these stockings. They are heavy duty quilt fabric and will last a lifetime (plus some!). I was able to give this to Amber last year, and I just pulled them out again for this year. These are slightly larger than what we had been using too, which is nice because I can fit more in them. Since I loved getting my stocking as a kid, it also brings me great joy in filling stockings for others.
The kids' stockings look similar, with the boys and the girls all having matching color schemes.
Do you like stockings as much as I do? Are you still using a stocking from your childhood? Do you have matching stockings for your whole family? Let's see them!
