Shavely's at Dollar General

I live in a VERY small town and our department store is the local Dollar General. While there I saw a Double Edge Razor called Shavely's.

Anyone know anything about these.? I'm tempted to get one just to check it out but with over 80 razors, do I really need another?

Neither the razor nor the blades are worth the price except in the most serious of emergency shaves IMO. A few challenges have been done with these razors and while you can get serviceable shaves, the QC is often horrid, the blades are grabby, and the razor doesn’t last long.

Here was TSC’s Challenge:

That sure is an extra long TTO knob on the bottom there. Interesting for $1 though.

Your computer is spying on you.

I wouldn't put it past it that is for sure - I sure don't understand the algorithms that are being used - sometimes when I put on YouTube and select a shaving video - it will play all the videos from that one person if I leave it alone - and other times it just plays everything that I've subscribed to........but too coincidental for me - I'm taking no chances.

Chrome web browser, Google search engine, YouTube (owned by Google. Hm … no coincidence.

Dollar General is not a "everything is a dollar" store. So I have my doubts that this $7.00 razor is the same as the one we used in the dollar store challenge. However, it does look extremely similar, with the exception of the elongated TTO knob. Either way, I wouldn't buy it. It certainly doesn't look like it would be on any lasting quality, You can get a baili TTO for $5-$6 from any of the major shaving supply stores and you will be happy with the build quality on those.

The dollar tree razor many of us tested out a year ago was rather impressive, even “good”. … but I found significant differences between razors I tried, making it impossible to tell whether you were going to end up with a good razor or bad one. At $1 each it was worth the risk provided it was being bought as an extra razor not as beginners primary razor.

I agree, at $7 it becomes possible to pick up several quality ‘vintage’ razors and even a few more reliable current production discount razors. …but none of those are going to be an off the shelf purchase unless you find one at an antique store.
It’s probably a better idea to spend $3 on some dollar general old spice splash than risk a $7 razor might be good or bad.

I don't know anything about them but may check at my local DG to see if they carry it. I certainly don't need one, but I may check it out anyway.
