Sanitizing Razors and Blades - thoughts?

I read somewhere that rinsing your razor in alcohol should help by:

1. Displacing the water from the blade (reduce corrosion) and
2. Sanitizing the blade and razor.

I grabbed a clean mason jar and filled it about 3/4 full with 90% alcohol.

When I'm done with a shave I give the razor a good rinse, then dunk the head.
Let the excess alcohol drain back into the mason jar and hang the razor to dry.

So far so good.

I wait until the next shave if I want to flip the blade, or swap to a different razor.

Anyone else do anything like this???

I do this for my DEs/SEs, more out of habit than anything else. Does it actually help? I don’t really know. My perceived benefits are that my user grade razors that have plating issues seems to have not gotten any worse discoloration or rust/corrosion, it seems to hold off soap scum build up a bit longer than without, if nothing else it certainly doesn’t hurt anything.

Sanitization isn’t really an issue unless you’re sharing razors or your razor storage is not clean.

Heck, my lazy butt rinses my razors off in hot water and I hang them to air dry. With my straights, I have a rag I sometimes wipe them down with a little (read tiny) bit of oil to discourage corrosion. All my razors are stored in desiccant laden drawers.

I rinse my razors off in warm water just to get the lather off, then I set it down on the counter. I use my blades for more shaves than just about anyone out there, and after over 100 shaves like that, have never had any issues with corrosion or anything else.

DE's - I rinse with hot water, towel dry and hang.

Straight Razors - I rinse, dry and put a light coat of mineral oil on the blade, and store in a drawer in bedroom.

I have never used alcohol and I don't feel it is necessary, but it probably is causing no harm and is possibly more sanitary so if it works for you and you are comfortable with it, keep doing it.
