Rockwell Model T

Won't Share His Sugar Daddy
Legacy
I just saw while doing some research that they dropped the price on this twist knob adjustable from 195 to 119. Anyone have any experience with it?

They were a pre buy some time back. Launch date kept moving and changes in material. Eventually some came out and had issues. All I know. Gus in 3. 2 . 1 will know more

They seem to have fixed several materials issues. They still haven't fulfilled all the Kickstarter backers, so it is probably against forum rules to talk too much about it at this time. Once it is openly available and I have mine I will give at least a short review.

I would say that this this razor is currently in a gray area. Still fulfilling original kickstarter orders, but can also place a regular order. I trust the cadre to make the best judgement when talking about this razor. There is no doubt that many consider what happened with the kickstarter as wrong. And this is a great example of why we do not want to be perceived as endorsing kickstarters.

So as long as we keep the talk about the razor and not about the kickstarter I would say we are okay.

Was not attempting to discuss the kickstarter as i saw it for regular sale on their website I was unaware of the rest of the info. My main concern is how would each setting compare to the 6s or 6c.

Statement was not directed toward you and I fully understood what you were asking. In all HONESTY I am curious too and hope that someone has some information because I was and still kind of am interested.

When I hear kickstarter, I think of a thigh cramp from trying to kick start a stubborn dirt bike back in the day.

I was just trying to err on the side of caution since I figured it is a gray area. Thank you for the clarification, Chad.

I am really looking forward to finally getting mine. Every other Rockwell product has been great, so I think this one will be too. Also, remember that the first shipping versions of the 6S had materials problems that eventually got worked out. I expect that the adjustment gaps to be somewhere in-line with the gaps on the 6S/6C.

If that is the case then i may be buying that one instead of one of the others. I also read somewhere that the 6C and 6S had different blade gaps at least on plate R6, any thoughts.

AFAIK, The 6C is just a zamak clone of the 6S. The blade gaps should be almost identical. I saw one review where a caliper and feeler gauge were used. That review stated that the gaps are the same and that the materials are of a similar thickness.

This one here is still up in the air as to who will receive and when. Via Rockwells own update site they have stated that they have shipped out hundreds of razors to the very first backers but, that's sort of in a fog as to the complete razors that have been shipped because of issues in production, particularly with the T-Bar assembly that rises and lowers the razor plate bed from being a 2 piece assembly to just 1. That I know of there have been reports from those that have received their razors with both the 1 and 2 piece assemblies and reports range from junk to outstanding. I can't comment on anything in regards to the razor for I have not received one as of yet. And probably won't see one until Jan-Feb of '19. Kickstarter backers get theirs first. Indiegogo backers will receive theirs after the KS backers do.

It's all in a recent update they put out on how all will be worked out. Frustrating it has been for those that have been waiting since 2016. Not a good look for Rockwell, period.

This is strange but last night I could have ordered one on Rockwell website for 119$ today the razor isn’t even listed for purchase. We should probably close this thread now

I see it still there for pre-order under the "shaving" menu. However, I agree that we should put this topic to rest until more of us have razors in hand.

Agreed. The situation is not clear and it's hard to speculate or give an opinion just based on reports without having the product in hand. It's just bad all the way around for now. When things are more certain and a product is in hand, I'll revisit this thread....

I will lock the thread for now. When someone here receives one and is prepared to talk about this razor. Please PM me and I will unlock it.

Thanks everyone!
