Raw RS 10

I have the RS10 in SS and Ti both have a mild plate and an aggressive plate. The owner Avi is very responsive to emails and very nice to work with. The only difference between the Ti and SS is the weight. This razor is extremely smooth even with a first use Feather blade. The mild plate is a great daily driver and the Aggressive plate usually gives me a 2 pass BBS even with a few days of beard growth. The Ti RS10 is by far the smoothest razor in my collection

Just got my RS10 today!! I'll add my initial thoughts here after my first use in the morning.

Mark, is your Ti RS10 a prototype, as I thought Avi cancelled the Ti version recently?

Hey Mark,
I actually ended up picking one up as an early Christmas present to myself. I got both the mild and aggressive plate as well. I didn't realize they made one in Ti but I actually love weight. I prefer the aggressive plate to the mild. Performance to comfort is outstanding and can use it every day. Agreed with the two passes BBS. I pull out my Blackbird if I have gone a couple days and need a close shave.

Ok gentlemen, the first shave using the mild plate was spectacular!

Initial Impressions: The very first thing that grabs my attention is just how well presented this razor is! There are literally layers of packaging that protect this razor and each layer becomes more elegant. Nice touch for a pricey razor IMO. This is heirloom quality! The razor itself is just beautiful. The weight is substantial but not too heavy, the handle has deep vertical ridges providing easy non-slip grip. I really like how the blade tabs are completely covered. The threading is smooth as butter, the fit and finish is just amazing! No slop, no wiggle, and no looseness. Well done on a quality thought out razor! It sort of reminds me (at least aesthetically) of if Blackland Blackbird razor and the Mergress razor produced offspring, then it would be this--the RS10. Although I think the RS10 looks better than both!

Blade choice: I did use a Feather blade for the first shave, as suggested. As I mentioned earlier, usually Feather's are not my favorite blades since I have always felt a tugginess in my mustache area. But this razor on the mild plate did a wonderful job with the Feather! I will put another shave on it with the Feather and then switch over to my usual GSB, which for my skin and beard has been the absolute best blade I've ever tried (despite those annoying glue drops ) and has worked in every DE razor I have.

Shave Impressions: I used B&M Reserve Waves and got a very nice low-structure, slick and silky lather resembling Elmers glue and used the WCS 26mm synthetic with the 2nd gen boss knot. Very excellent lather and brush this morning. I did my usual 3 pass shave (WTG, XTG, ATG). The smoothness was definitely noticeable! After the first pass, I rinsed and relathered for pass 2, it is here that I felt the razor excelled! The second pass was smooth and comfortable and just an enjoyable time. After rinsing, I could still feel just a little stubble left, so I relathered for pass 3: ATG. Usually it the ATG pass that tells me the most about whether its a smooth razor for me or not. And this one just glided upwards, no drag, no skipping, no nothing but slick and smooth upwards movement going ATG clearing that final bit of stubble. The end result was a very comfortable and easily attained BBS. No nicks, weepers, or irritation of any sort. I'm impressed so far! If the Feather was this good for me, I got a feeling that the GSB will be even better.

Buyers Remorse: Nope!! Not in the least. I did get a great deal from someone who reached out to me privately and offered a great deal on this razor, and for both plates and everything for $300 is alot of money, but it is worth every penny IMO! (And $300 is chump change compared to other hobbies I enjoy, like guns and shooting!). So no buyers remorse for me!

For those that are looking for a premium razor that is available, and is super high quality, and shaves like a dream, then give the RS10 a serious look, because it is a serious contender!

Robert Robert Robert, you can't give a review about an exorbitantly priced razor, tell us how beautiful it is and not include pictures. Glad you like it !!

Basically you got two razors for that price with the two differnt plates. I have not tried the feather yet with them. Maybe that is why I am not getting that ultimate smoothness out of it yet.

Will have to try one once this Astra ss is burnt out.

Funny you mention the Mergress and BB. Considering those are two of my other favorite razors.

Yes I know! I actually thought about that when I posted it, but didn't have time to get some pics together. I will though....

I don't really have tons of money to throw around (I just sell off other things & add a little bit here & there till I get the money) plus the razor was discounted at 18% off.

Somehow I just knew that it would work for me, I had a gut feeling. Based on my own experiences of two years worth of DE shaving, participating in several razor passarounds, collecting many great razors both vintage & modern, being on a continual search for razors that are especially considered by many to be super smooth, reading as much feedback & reviews on razor performance as I can, taking into account trusted & helpful friends (enablers), etc....all that combined into the perfect understanding that this razor is going to be fantastic (plus it has two baseplate options-- mild & aggressive to further tailor the shave to one's beard & face). I just knew! I had the same gut feeling with the Rex & I love it. Also with the Timeless, but I don't have anything from them, yet. The RS10 was worth me parting ways with the Rockwell 6s.
