have any of you all who restore and sell razors, has anybody made their own photo box? here is mine that I am working on. living in a nursing home does not afford you many venues for acquiring material LOL I'll just say the box came out of the trash and everything else just came.

the stands are made from coat hangers sanded down. the one with the green tube on it, well, that's an item that came out of the trash that I cut the bottom off of drilled a hole in it stuck a hanger through it bent it so it will stay in place and hold the razorIMG_20230104_170620252.jpgIMG_20230104_171138852.jpg

I used a cardboard box lined with white poster board. I cut a hole in the top and lined it with parchment paper to diffuse the light coming in. Cost me $1.

I guess I got you beat there. lol. mine was totally free.

I have made a few changes since this picture, the hot glue didn't necessarily hold the brush holder up so I changed the design of my holder vented into a clamp lake shape and clamped it onto the bottom of the stand that holds everything it should be stable now and I think a bigger box so I can get farther back but everything seems to be lining up pretty good.

at the rate I'm going. by the time I get to using a photo box you will just get the thought in your head and it will magically happen and your post will be up. I had to take a break from honing because my fingers started flinching for some reason

A while back I did wonders with just some poster board. I think your photo box is amazing!

it never amazes me how you think you have something perfected and then find 20 more ways to perfect it. I have changed it a little bit, I made a little holder that I can put my phone in and tell Google to take a picture and it takes a picture like this. I'm trying to figure out how to adjust the focus because it won't auto focus for some reason. but this picture was taken by dropping my phone into a coat hanger I twisted to hold the phone at the right angle now it's just a question of getting the lighting right. that is just the flash. things are not going like I expected LOL but it's getting better. I have to hide it because it was made from a box that I dump stuff out of LOL took the mirrors off of the dining room hutch. took the paint from the activities room lol. when in Rome do as the Australians doIMG_20230109_023307887.jpg

Now...don't get all fancy on us! 🤪 Looks great! I am sure you will figure out the rest.

lol. having OCD is bad enough, then getting multiple sclerosis and different parts of my body affected at different times in different ways it's a constant challenge. as a result I do different things.

a guy that restores these gave me about 10 blanks. I turned them into scales within a week. I learned I needed a steady table and a way to hold things down for starters. I took the tables off the wheels since I don't use them as food tables I gorilla taped them in a way that they will not move if I don't get too crazy with them. I got some clamps to clamp stuff down and I kept going until I hit a point that I couldn't do what I needed to do without a special tool that I don't have or my hand cramps and I can't do what I need to do something. so I switch to sanding on blades. and I learned, there are a few things I need. so I got what I needed or made something. I made a few things that hold the blade in place so you can hone it easier. I jerk and flinch and have bad balance and would rather not have my fingers in between something Sharp if I fall over on it LOL it's easier for me to have it as stable locked in places I can. I made a block of a tree into a sanding disc that I put a silicone baking sheet on one side to keep the acrylic scales from scratching and sliding. I put three pins in at angles that hold the blade fairly straight the pins are set for the largest of 25 blades I have. they are all fairly close to the same size.

I do not know what I have going on with YouTube but for some reason I have two accounts with two different names and when I upload videos they go to different ones but I think this one has the ones that I make when I just do something for something to do LOL

my goal was to be able to drop my camera into a slot and tell it to take a picture and it will take a picture that's ready to upload. this is the picture if I drop it into a stationary holder in the box and tell Google to take a picture this is what I get every time I'm going to try to point it to the left a little more so I can take a picture of it at a different angleIMG_20230110_182337326.jpgthis is as good as it's going to get and I don't even need the brushes and stuff I just was trying to see what I could do and this is just with the flash from the camera. I was planning on putting lights overhead but that works pretty good and I can open the top and take better pictures close ups of blades or whatever
