Parker Variant Adjustment Knob Alignment

Mine actually starts below one with the blade installed. Something sounds off with yours. I hope the thread isn't stripped on it or something.

I love my Variant and it's my daily driver. I can do things with it you just can't do with a non-adjustable razor. For instance I can do an ATG pass set just below 1 and it doesn't cause any irritation. Quite often as my blade gets duller I'll do a first pass on 4 and shift it down to 3.5 on the last two passes. One week I was suffering with some "One Shave Too Many Syndrome" by being too lazy to change my blade, so I shifted it down to 3 all week to recover. It still gave me a great shave and allowed the recovery. I've never had mine above 4 though.

I don't know that there's anything 'wrong' with it as far as how it shaves, I'm just curious if there are known inconsistencies to where the alignment knob actually starts with a blade loaded and without.

I have a Progress, which I thought was mechanically equivalent. My Progress starts out on the plus when it's fully tightened, whether there's a blade loaded or not.

I would agree with that conclusion as well. My Variant also is more aggressive on one side very slightly when compared to the other. Nothing is perfect, but I love my Variant.
