Noble Otter reaction

Hi, had a shave with Noble Otter's The Noir et Vanille and i'm not sure if i've had a reaction to it. Admittedly it wasn't a great shave - i used a new feather on the Rockwell 6S plate 2. My skin was a little soft so had a few weepers. I used the alum block and thayers with a little aftershave. My skin after felt a bit raw, there's no redness but it feels a little fiery.
Anybody else have any reactions?
Thanks in advance

Give it another try after healing and with known good blade and razor to see if it was the soap is what I do before pifing or trading it if it's an issue for you.

Will do, thanks. I know the feathers can cause irritation, they are super sharp (that was why i chose the less aggressive plate). I'll give it another go ?

Also...you could do a test lather on the inside of your arm just above the wrist. Let the lather sit there for a bit and see if you have a reaction to it.

I get a reaction with their Lone Star, but not with Barrbarr. Must be the scent, the leather in my case.

HMan, that's a shame but at least the Barrbarr is one you can use. I've had certain soaps at times react and it's frustrating when it's a scent you like. Welcome to the Cadre !!

I've had some soaps and creams that caused irritation or burning/tingling. I'm guessing that most of these are due to fragrance or essential oils used to scent the soap. What's odd in some of those cases is that If I put it away for a while and try it weeks or months later, I don't have the same reaction.

Another discovery I've made just this winter is that the hydration level of my skin can cause a lot of shaving issues. I live in the northeast USA. In the winter months, my skin can become very dry and then oily sometimes. I have been using a good moisturizer once and even twice a day, sometimes. I also avoid soap and creams that are known to be drying to the skin.

Having irritation from great soaps is such a bummer. I love WSP brushes, aftershaves, colognes etc... Their soap performance is fantastic, but both lines of their soaps make my face burn. It doesn't matter the scent. Go figure.

Weepers are caused by bad prep, using too much pressure and most commonly by using a razor too aggressive for your face. Soap does not cause weepers on its own.

Not related to irritation but definitely related to Noble Otter, I'm interested in buying three of their samples after hearing such great things about the performance. Unfortunately all samples are sold out and many of the soaps are also sold out. The last time I saw that happen was when I wanted to buy some WCS soap and found out the deal with PAA had gone sour. I've also heard of some small artisans closing shop. So I thought I'd ask if anyone knows what's happening?

There’s at least some Lonestar in the Soap Sample Swap library. Otherwise there’s quite a few tub scents between members here, perhaps something could be worked out if you put out the feelers.

After I posted I realized that both Maggards and West Coast Shaving have some stock. I may order a tub of BarrBarr as I've been focused on barbershop type scents lately. Thanks for the offer of assistance.

I haven't heard any rumors. Last time I ordered from him, about a year ago, it was a similar situation, so suspect that's just the natural cycle until he can restock.
