Shave Newbie
Hello, how are you?
My name is Chris, and I live in Youngsville, LA.
I have been wetshaving since ~April 2022.
I appreciate this art because of the attention
it requires; having to make the proper adjustments with the
razor as the blade moves across my face, needing to modulate the
pressure but not get cut. Then gradually gaining
more confidence and speed from shave to shave,
more time passing, and finally getting the razor to sing.
Then trying other blades & razor combinations while further
refining technique and growing into this skill.
Really, this is all so gratifying. Learning to carry a light touch
with a razor has translated to using other tools with
more refinement (power tools, knives).
And bathroom-time "making my toilette" has become a waking
meditation, a time and space that is mine alone, where
a foundation of hygiene and self-care is established for the day.
Shower, shave, hair tonic & powder - wow, what a shave,
what a boost! I wish I had started taking care of myself
like this years ago. But better late than never.
I'm happy to be a part of the Shaving Cadre community
& learn from you all as we go. See you in the forums.
My humble razor collection:
Mühle R89 Rose Gold Gillette New Short Comb (1930) Gillette Super Speed T1 (1973)
