Okay, coming up on 10 years with my goatee. Otherwise, I get a buzz cut w/ #1's every 2 weeks with major lack of hair down the middle and on top of my head.
Should I keep the goat or let her go clean shaven? Appreciate any opinions, experiences, or comments!! Thanks
From a barbers perspective, if you are getting a buzz cut, and you are starting to thin around the crown and central skull area, keep the goatee. It actually will add symmetry from your neck up. I would trim it to be about the same length as the buzz may be a little bit longer and that’ll give you a good facial symmetry. So if you’re using Wahl or Oster guards, I would suggest either keeping the goatee at a 1.5 or a two
Also make sure you keep the lines sharp on the edges of the goatee and at the lip line. That’ll also help the overall look.
I'm in the "keep it" camp. You might look fine without it but it looks pretty natural. Another reason to keep it is the fact you havn't had to shave your chin or upper lip for so long you may not enjoy doing so going forward.
I personally let mine grow longer but every so often trim it very close. I like to stroke my chin hair while I am deep in thought....makes me look distinguished (or maybe like a maniac, who knows)
Okay guys, the ayes have it!! It was close, but I've decided, after all your input and comments, to keep my goatee. Thanks for your help, and thanks for all your help!! @bosch
