Mixing Fragrance and Soap/AS?

Shave Newbie
Gents,

I have long used a rotation of SV and other soap and matching splashes. I have recently found that I really like Bleu de Chanel Parfum as a fragrance.

If I use l'occitane soap (which I wish lathered better, but provides great performance otherwise), which I find to have a super light scent, I can use the Bleu de Chanel aftershave splash and spray the fragrance-but what about days I want to use the SV?

Do you all mix scents—do you find that they clash?

Thanks for any help!

It really depends on the soap. Some are rather unobtrusive or at least don’t last long, others are rather powerful. Use of a matching AS usually only increases the likelihood that it will clash with a random frag.

SV tends to be on the more powerfully scented end IMO and would only mix well with complimentary frags or frags in the same-ish scent profile.

My soap, aftershave, and fragrance choices are irrelevant of each other. I rarely go into a shave with a plan, unless I’m doing a challenge or theme shave. I grab a soap, then when I’m done I grab whatever as grabs me. Most soaps the scent dies down by the time I apply as anyway, and if it doesn’t my nose picks something complimentary. If the as is strong then I forego fragrance, if not then it’s whatever I feel for the day. There are no rules in shaving, no need to tie yourself down to any arbitrarily.
