Me and My Razorine

Just received my Razorine in the mail a 4 days ago. Just to say, I have no affiliation or relationship with this company at all. Actually, I bought this used from a fine gentleman in Colorado off the Bay. My first impressions are that is is bazaar looking, heavier than I was expecting, and has a strange feeling handle. I believe it is chrome finished brass. I can't give a verdict on the finish, because I have no idea what it was new. But the chrome looks like it was done well. It does have light scratches on it. I will try to attach some pictures of it here. One is next to my Fatboy, for a size comparison.1063106410651066
It comes apart in 3 pieces, by unscrewing the nut off in the back, the blade clicks in to the removable piece and then you screw it back on. As you can see in the last picture, the blade has more exposure on the left side than the right. The difference is palpable during the shave. I have played with it for quite a while and I can't make the uneven blade exposure go away. I can only switch it from one side to the other.
I have shaved with it every day since Saturday, and I feel it requires a very different technique to use it. Like many of you here, I enjoy shaving with DEs of all sorts, GEMs, Schick injectors, Straights, Feather Artist Clubs, Shavettes(least favorite), and Kamisori razors. The technique I have needed to use is not like any of those. The Kamisori is the closest, but it's handle angle is not 90 degrees to the blade's edge like it is here.
The handle: I find it is not slippery with water alone, but very slippery with soap and water. It is thin and flat, and I find it very difficult to fine tune the razor's angle on my chin and jaw line. I don't like the handle. Looks nice-not functional.
This razor is aggressive, especially on the more exposed side. Getting a BBS shave is easy with this razor, so has been getting nicks and cuts. I have yet to have a totally bloodless shave going ATG, and have more than usual skin irritation.
It's only been 4 days. I know I have some favorite razors that took a while to become my favorites, so I will keep at it for a while with this one.
My impressions after using it:
It is a unique novelty to have around, not a new and improved way of shaving.
I forgot how fun it is to acquire a new skill with a challenging shaving tool.
I'm glad I didn't pay full price for it. There might have been some disappointment.
My gut is telling me that Quality Assurance is not spot on with these, and other people would have different shaving experiences with things like aggression level etc.
I probably will keep it. I have 3 sons, and I'm sure some of them will want to have fun with it too.

Good report! Hadn’t heard much first hand experience reports. Only a little seem to really love it. Glad you were able to get yours second hand!

Nice info.

The Razorine comes in two stock finishes. Raw Brass or Polished Chrome (over brass).

I've been curious about these, but think they are just slightly too high priced for what I'm getting.... considering my den is chock full of shavettes as it is. Good to know about the alignment issue. I don't believe I've read anyone comment on that aspect before. definitely something to consider.

Just from the pictures it looks like it wouldn't be easy to get different grips on. Never seen one of those before.

I think if the handle was designed to keep a good grip on it, I would like it much better. Not being able to keep the angle I want on it when going ATG is it's Achilles Heel.

I think they're $49.99 for chrome new. That is quite pricey. I might do $39.99 for the brass due to it might be less slippery and easier to keep a grip on.

Just an update. I wound some D-loop string around the handle of the Razorine to improve the grip. What a difference! I can finally maintain a proper angle throughout my shave. I am really enjoying this razor now. If I didn’t improve the grip, this would have gone into the drawer for some time. Bizarrely enough, a Feather blade seems to work the best in it for me. Combining an aggressive razor with a very sharp blade to give me the smoothest shave. Go figure. 339E02DD-39B9-448B-96C2-C94BAA289659.jpeg

I've been curious about them, but the handle always looked difficult. And it's probably similar enough to a couple other shavettes that I have, so I never pulled the trigger.
