Lentheric Shaving soap

I recently acquired two 1930’s Lenthéric shaving soap and aftershave talc sets. I know that Lentheric was a vintage Paris based fragrance brand and that they were eventually picked up by Yardley in the 1980’s, but otherwise I know little about them.
I’m looking forward to testing them out over the next month. Both soaps do have a faint lavender scent and the talc has a bit more scent. I’m sure the soap should be great, it has to be tallow based. I love the Art Deco look of both the soap bowls and talc containers. I feel like this would be at place on a shelf in room 237 of the Overlook Hotel.

“In The Shining novel, the mysterious room where some supernatural events take place is room 217. In the film, it was changed to 237. This was due to a request from the Timberline Lodge, a hotel in Oregon that was used for the exterior shots of the Overlook Hotel. The Timberline’s management asked Kubrick to not use room 217 as they feared guests would no longer want to stay in that room once the film was out, and so room 237 was created, as there’s no such room number in the hotel. Ironically, room 217 is the most requested one at the Timberline Lodge.”

I have not stayed there but have taken the tour. I would highly recommend it. The night one sells out quick.

Question where did you find the soap/aftershave? It looks so awesome? Is there a place that sells this or was just a surprise find?

Believe it or not, both of these were found on eBay! Both for reasonable prices too. I think they were both buy it now. Stick it in your saved searches and maybe you’ll snag a set in the next few weeks. The aftershave splash has been hard to come by. It is considerably more expensive and costs more than what I paid for the soaps and talc sets. I have a small 0.3 Oz sample bottle of Lentheric Onyx that smells amazing! Hopefully a 5oz bottle(when I find one) will be as enchanting.

I’d love to visit that hotel, it is one of my very favorite movies!! Very jealous!

Fougère Royal is a grail soap for me too! Hopefully one day I’ll snag one!
