Karve plans for 2020

I just read on FB a post from Karve Shaving Co regarding future plans. A top cap that covers the blade tabs was mentioned. A titanium razor, a ladies razor, even an adjustable! Of course, not all will happen, and I imagine there will be looonngg wait times! [emoji16]

He's hired some staff, but I understand it's still slow. Not a big deal IMO, since he always comes though in the end.

Here's the full post -

Onwards and upwards in 2020! 2019 was a great year and we want 2020 to be even more exciting.

Here's what we have planned:

An Alternative Top Cap Design

We've listened and we’re working on a CB top cap that covers the blade tabs. The second most important feature is compatibility with existing Karve hardware.
A Titanium CB Razor
We’re incredibly surprised by the reception the Aluminum razor and it's apparent to us that people want a lighter razor. We believe that Titanium gives the ideal balance between saving weight and high tolerances and this is something we want to bring to the market this year. Titanium is a fairly similar material to stainless steel when it comes to cutting, but like everything, some tweaks will be required to be made to make this possible.
A V2 Razor
This won't be a completely different razor, and frankly, we don't want to throw away the blade geometry of the Christopher Bradley that so many of you like. This razor will include a few minor tweaks in design to improve the overall performance of the razor. Aside from design, it will also be a different aesthetic experience.
Ladies Razor
We've had quite a few requests to develop a ladies specific razor and we think it's a great idea. We're not quite sure what this entails yet, so we'd like to hear from you about what you'd look for in a razor. What design features do you think would be useful? A pivoting head? A different handle shape?
Adjustable Razor
This is still far off but we've been thinking about an adjustable razor for some time. The way we envision this working is that it would utilize all of our current base plate as settings (AA-G). Where we feel this is possible, we won't know how feasible this actually is until we get into the nitty-gritty of R&D. Rest assured, it will definitely have the Karve flair you've all come to expect from us.
These projects are only made possible by you, we really appreciate the opportunity you've all given us over this last year and we hope we can do you proud for many years to come.

Excellent razor, bad business strategy and implementation that is being employed by Christopher Bradley-Karve Razors. If they can build inventory even if it means not having ready made razors available on their website short term, they’d come out ahead in the long term. Kind of works two-fold. This is a niche market so, you have your initial release and that sort of gives you a read on the market for demand and potential future sales. You also could get into either short term or long term agreements with other local machine shops or a one and done and pay as you go sort of like arrangement just in case demand exceeds supply for the time being. As a one man shop (though it has been rumored that he has hired more help, this hasn’t been confirmed yet that I know of but, if he did I hope it’s for the better), it’s extremely difficult to be all at the same time in designing, manufacturing, finishing, quality control, finalization then packaging for shipment to customers. And I’m not trying to defend the man here, just stating that he’s in a pinch because his razors have been such a success but, what has me perplexed is that he promises that things will get better in terms of availability and customers receiving their products since the very beginning. That’s been 2 years plus and by my estimation, things have gone from questionable to unacceptable. The process hasn’t been improved yet, they continue to side skirt the biggest issue which is customer satisfaction for timely delivery and the simple act of honest communication. Until they get their stuff together, I will not be looking into acquiring any more of their offerings.

I'm 90% sure I saw his post on Facebook that he has hired some staff. I think you do make a very good point with getting the business in order first before worrying about new products etc.

But then again, this seems to be almost the nor in this space.
