I’ve had a couple. The were smaller with a 4/8 blade.

The steel is as hard as Swedish steel and the build quality is just fantastic.

I'm currently borrowing a couple of @The Monkey 's and they are very nice.

I have a few. They are really good shavers and tend to be made in sizes I prefer, between 5/8s and 7/8s. Each of them seems to be easy to hone and they hold edges fine. I have a rare Hagen "Elephant" razor that is about as thinly ground as I've seen made.

Does the hardness of the Japanese blades keep a sharper edge compared to other straights?

Im thinking about ordering one from Japanese soon.

I've not noticed this. They seem about avg to me. But then, most things seem about avg to me . . . .

Yes I use many and love them. They take and hold a great edge. The first one I bought was a Parker 501 and I was hooked.
