Ivory Soap

I've never tried lathering it up and shaving with it. But I've heard that people have used it, or know people that have.

I have a couple bars of it with some other bath soaps. I figure if things get really bad and I use up my 10yrs worth of soaps and creams. I can shave with Ivory soap. But in reality, I have more shave soap than bath soaps. So it will probably get used for bathing before shaving.

Yes, I’ve used it, and yes it’s perfectly serviceable as a shave soap. There are old ads talking about using it for shaving. And I have a razor that says to use ivory soap. So yeah, this is well documented in history as a shave soap.

Yep I used bar soap regularly for a number of years to shave with prior to finding My way to traditional wet shaving. Sometimes it was Ivory sometimes it was whatever bar soap was sitting on the bathroom sink. Back then the shaves were good but not great, but I was still using a cart razor. For me the bar soap was better than any of the canned goop. Fast forward to now, with a good DE and blades, and I can get a fine shave with bar soap. The last one I tried was CBL Soaps bar soap and it worked very well.
