Shave Newbie
Hello all.
I just got my grandfather’s old straight razor. Can anyone tell me anything at all about it? No brand name at all.

Thanks

@B.Stegler this is a 5 years guarantee razor made by Electric Razor Company and imported after 1891 to the United States by Friedmann & Lauterjung of New York City. by the quality I’d say it was imported just after the turn of the century around 1905ish. In the early 1900’s the Electric Razor Co started manufacturing in the United States out of a factory in Newark, NJ to avoid tariffs. This razor likely came to the states in the transition period, during or before their Newark factory got up to speed. “Electric Razor” was a buzz word for the time with electricity being relatively new and exciting. Much easier to say than Friedmann & Lauterjung and much more easy to remember for an American market.

Otherwise, it appears to be a very nice example of a German hollow ground straight razor which should hone up easily and shave well.

Thank’s. But the razor was sold in Sweden. But I am glad about the dating.

Many thanks

I see, yeah that is important information to know. I'd still stick by the dating, its definitely still produced after 1891 and likely before the 1920's. Best wishes!
