Tomorrow starts the One Blade February Challenge.
I will be using a Feather Blade in my Feather AS-D2 razor. I'm really looking forward to using this combination, and seeing how long I can get close comfortable shave from a single blade.
Now, I have a history of getting great longevity from a Feather blade. I rarely keep track of # of shaves, except when the February challenges come around. My first go around with the Feather I got 66 shaves. The second time I did the challenge with a Feather, I got 115 shaves. Both times I used the Merkur 34C HD razor. Now, I'm changing it up and using the Feather AS-D2 razor instead. So, how will that affect things? Will I get more shaves? Less shaves? Who Knows? Care to take a guess?
Place your guesses below and whoever is the closest to the actual # of shaves (higher or lower), when my blade finally gives up, will win.
The prize package will start off with one Vintage puck of Williams soap. Here's the twist....... At the beginning of every new month that I'm still going, I will add one more item, announced at that time. So the longer I go, the better the prize package will be!!
Just to be up front with everyone about my criteria, this is how I decide to retire a blade: I rarely get any tugging, pulling, redness, or soreness from shaves, unless it is a truly bad blade. And If that's the case, I will know within the first few shaves. So what tells me that a blade has served its usefulness is..... closeness. Usually if I feel my face at the end of the day, I will start to feel some stubble growing back in. Now, if I feel my face around 10 or 11 AM, and I feel that same level of stubble, then I know the razor just isn't shaving me as close as I want, and the blade is ready for retirement. Also know, that I will not suffer a bad shave for the sake of proving longevity or trying to beat a record. If it ever does give me a bad shave, a rough shave, or a sore shave... I will throw in the towel.
I'm thinking of leaving the voting window open for the entire Month of February, to allow more people to get in on this. And since I expect to get far greater than a month of shaves, guesses at the end of the month don't have any advantage over guesses at the beginning of the month. But I may close the guessing window, at any time, especially if it goes a while with no further guesses. Anyone is eligible to vote. But if you sign up, and haven't yet introduced yourself in the Newbie and Welcome Forum (<--click here), please take a minute and do that, before your vote will count. (That's literally my only rule.)

3rd Annual February "One Blade" Challenge!
It's that time once again..... the shortest month of the year. That means it's time for the FEBRUARY "ONE BLADE" CHALLENGE!! Originally started, back in the day, to try to test/prove claims that you could get a month's worth of shaves from the legendary Personna 74 blade. Then, subsequent...
