Hey guys, thanks for having me!
I’ve been wet shaving for about 5-6 years now, but now I mostly stick with straights. I live in Camdenton, Missouri, which is on the Lake of the Ozarks(Insert Ozark TV show reference here). I’m married to my amazing lady, Iryna. We have a son, Nathan who is not yet a year old. I enjoy hunting small game, Deer, and turkey as well as Flyfishing for trout in local Missouri streams.
My new passion is learning how to hone at a high level, so I’m honing a razor or two a day on different stones. I like my Escher a lot, as well as my Coticule, but I’m looking into picking up a Surgical Black Arkansas and thinking a little about a JNAT. I am typically a deal shopper, so I’m not going to have a $500 razor or $1000 JNAT. I prefer to pick up those items an antique stores or flea markets if possible. I really enjoy this hobby! Thanks
Matt

Welcome on!

Been learning SR/shavette technique for a few months now, but haven’t got into honing yet. I understand your want to find deals when it comes to it though! ?

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone! Now if I can find the time to learn site navigation and how to post stuff we’ll really be heading somewhere.

Welcome Matt! Plenty of honing goes on around here. I too tend to be a deal shopper, but since 2014 I found that I had disposable funds at work that could legitimately be allocated towards honing gear. I know have a progression of 4 Ark stones, all from Dan's. A Soft, Hard, Trans and a Black. I still have not gotten them completely figured out. I get very good edges from them, but I still have not received a stellar edge from them. It is time to go back to basics with them, and start over I think.

My disposable funds have dried up, so I have to get along with what I have. But, there are plenty of stones in my arsenal that are capable of more than what I have been able to get out of them.
