Gillette Super Thin

Just a good word for a seldom encountered (in the USA) Gillette blade that shaves like a dream. However, there is some confusion regarding the modern versions of this blade. The first version is made in Shanghai by Gillette for the Thai market and is a fantastic blade:

The second version is marked Platinum and quire frankly is, at least for me, the worst modern Gillette blade I have ever used. It is made in Shanghai as well for the Vietnam market:

There is another version for Latin America that was made in Mexico in the past and also in Brazil. I have both versions (same packaging except origin marking on back) and these as well are excellent blades. They have the additional nomenclature Mejorada on the packaging:

These latter two Mejorada versions are nigh impossible to get in the USA. I got a 60 blade hanger from Matamoros, Mexico via a friend for less than $7.00. The superb Thai Super Thin can be ordered online from Ebay and Wet Shaving – Bolzano, Gillette, Personna Double Edge Razor Blades

Are they significantly thinner than a standard blade? Does that serve a real purpose?

I got one Super Thin from @Spider in a sampler pack, but it did not get favorable reviews from me. I think it was the red/black packaging.

The Super Thin though was a tad uncomfortable for the first use today. I did not feel that the shave was smooth, though it did feel sharp.
It might be my imagination, but even with how rigid the GC design is, it feels like the blade is micro-flexing a lot at my normal shave angle. I could also see it exfoliating skin! Needless to say, a bit of an uncomfortable final pass.
Not sure what Gillette was thinking by putting out this blade, but it’s just not for me. The closeness is decent, but the removal just hasn’t smoothed out at all. It’s not tugging but its just a rough cut. The GC helped smooth it some in the WTG and XTG, as did taking a shallower angle, but it’s not worth the effort. Into the bin it goes!

I actually have a couple of each of those ( I think). I was told that they were garbage so I never tried them. Looks like I need to pull them out and give them a whirl!
