I know we had a Gentleman's nod pass around here so there are definitely some fans of the soap. I stumbled upon this release scheduled for tonight, at 5pm CST...

Kanpei shave soap by Gentleman's Nod.

"Kanpai is a Boozy, zesty, citrus fragrance anchored by spice and herbal notes with an effervescent freshness. It reminds us of having a refreshing cocktail overlooking the ocean with the warm spring sun on your face and a cool sea breeze moving through the air. Kanpai is an original fragrance that we designed and blended in house. It has notes of Gin, Yuzu, Grapefruit, Lemon, Mandarin, Ginger, Asian Plum, Cardamom, Coriander, Sweet Basil and Anise. It also has a groovy mix of aldehydes that create a unique, almost effervescent freshness."

I happen to be a Gentleman's Nod fan based on a tallow soap that I that I purchased, Vincent No. 11. I really like the scent in that one. I also like the Vincent soap base though the new soap looks like a new tallow base ("Cardinal") was used.

I can guess that @mrdoug was led astray by the fact that both soap lines have soaps based on famous people though Strike Gold is limited to US Presidents.

That could be the case... They have similarities in that aspect. Let's not dismiss @NurseDave idea though... Maybe I'm just a bit too boozy. Lol. [emoji485][emoji481][emoji484][emoji2957]

I was going to say, I didn’t think we ever did a pass. I’ve never heard of this brand before.

I can't speak to Kanpai but the scent of Vincent is really nice. It has become one of my favorites. It has a note that really sets it apart. I took a look at Ruds review of Vincent and finally figured out what that note is--bitter almond. Ruds gives Vincent with its base a shave score of 94.

Ruds gives Kanpai in the new Cardinal base an even higher score: "Primary and residual slickness of this soap are elite. Much like their other soap bases, post shave is the real star and is among the elite in a crowded soap market. The face feel and protection this lather leaves behind is amazing. Given my experience with the base, Gentleman's Nod Cardinal base receives a ShaveScore of 99."

Now I wish I had gotten on the Kanpai train. Ah well, you can't buy them all.
