I’ve never made a Franken-soap before, A.K.A. Clown Puke. But I had a ton of tiny samples, 24 of them actually, that I wasn’t ever going to do anything with, so I decided to squish them all together into my lather bowl, so I could use them up. This is going to be interesting!

Is that second photo with water? Or from microwaving?

Its actually a great idea if you don’t plan to pass the samples along. I may just do this with my unloved samples!

Just water. A few of the samples were a little dry, so I soaked them for a few minutes to make it easier to squish the harder soaps in together with the croaps.

Why would you microwave soap?

Do you take me for a rookie?

Lol, no, I’m the rookie!

If you throw it in the microwave for short bursts, say 15 secs stirring each time they will melt together. You can the put it into a container. It still might look puke though.

Welcome to TSC Lisa!

Most soaps will burn if you microwave them. Even in short bursts. Melt & Pour soaps are the only soaps you can nuke for short bursts and be totally safe. Any tallow soap will absolutely burn, and rather quickly. I know from experience. It smells horrible too.

I just did a test lather..... wow! Best lather I’ve ever made, seriously!

i need to make Franken-soap more often.

Did you keep track of the “recipe”?
nope. It’s a massive hodgepodge that probably includes discontinued scents, if not discontinued soaps altogether. Plus, it’s going to change as I work my way through it.

just makes me now want to experiment with my current soaps and mix some recipes. I think each soap having different oils and fats, mixed together, you get the benefits of all of them to make a super lather!

Actually they won't, especially with that extra water you added. Also that's why you stir it well after each session in the microwave. Believe me I have rebatched plenty of soap (in a crockpot, not a microwave) and had temps much higher than 160. The key is to stir a lot.

I wasn’t looking for a uniform mixture. I got exactly what I wanted, an amalgamation of different soaps. It’s my first go at it, but folks do it all the time.

I have something similar I have been working on for a couple of years. I'm getting the end of some of my soaps so I should have a full puck in a few months.

But yeah, clown puke is an appropriate name.

Welcome Lisa! Glad to have you here!
