Coffee scented soaps

I have just now discovered that my father in law uses Barbasol can foam and disposals on the daily, so I think I can convert him.

He is a great lover of his mermaid coffee from Seatle. Based on this I'd like to get him a coffee soap as a starter.

What is the opinion of The Cadre on the "best" coffee shave soap(s)?

I don’t know a lot about the different options available but I can share a word of caution with regard to coffee scents in general. Coffee scents, like cigar themed scents are often made with fragrance ingredients that have a higher likelihood of causing irritation. The culprit is often the vanilan in the mix (which can be quite a high percentage of the overall fragrance blend) but it seems there are other things that do it. Not everyone has issues with vanilan or coffee scents in general and not all fragrance oils are the same. I had Reef Point espresso and it lit me up. Then I made a CBL version that I was fine with and another that I wasn’t. It can be a real coin toss. If you want me to mix up a simple “just coffee soap let me know, I still have a little bit of oil (at least enough for a smaller tub). Maybe Stirling has a good one.

Chris’ Breakfast Blend is a great coffee scent! It’s like a smooth cup o joe with some sweet cream added!

I actually have two coffee flavored soaps in the den. Sadly both are no longer available.

Cafe Orleans by Big Easy Soaps

And

Coffee Spoons by Storybook Soap Works

Coffee Spoons is a REALLY good performing soap.

I have a few coffee scented soaps. My absolute favorite is Angels 12 by Victory Shaving Company. A tie for second is between Coffee Spoons by Storybook Soapworks and Breakfast blend + Black coffee by CBL soap. My only problem is that I can‘t find a coffee scented aftershave that I love. Victory shaving doesn’t make one and coffee spoons aftershave is just ok for me (needs more of an espresso kick than the standard coffee scent that it has). Not sure if CBL is making any coffee scented aftershave since that is a new thing for CBL. @CBLindsay would have more details for you.
One new one that came out on Black Friday is Stirling Soap Co.’s Iced Coffee soap and splash. @Joe Hackett might be able to offer more insight about this scent.
A couple others that I have looked at are Irish Cream by Catie’s Bubbles, The Perfect Cup by Wet The Face, and Van Yulay has two or three different ones.

I had no idea Angels 12 was a coffee scented/themed soap...Victory soaps are a definite Father In Law pleaser, great soaps and of/when he decides to stick with wet shaving he has other cool scents...I think he even has some gear.

And, no CBL soaps will not be doing a coffee scented aftershave...

Angels 12 isn’t a “true” coffee only scent. The combination of mocha, mint, and tobacco give it a scent that is like a mocha latte from a coffee house. The first time I lathered it I immediately thought of a coffee drink. Not exactly sure why since I drink my coffee black 99% of the time.
No Breakfast Blend splash 🥲. Oh well, it is a small segment of wet shavers that actually like coffee scents. It is truly a love/hate scent category.

Stirling just put out a iced coffee this black Friday. I used it yesterday and was really good.
Even had a menthol kick to it.
And it is a 3oz soap and 2 oz aftershave set.

An update for everyone. Due to overly generous people on this board (you know who you are) the FIL did receive two different coffee soaps for Christmas. A great thanks to you.

I packaged it with a 24mm tuxedo synthetic and a Ming Shi, and just this past week he confirmed that he has now used all items. He was very impressed and was surprised how easy the DE shaved and how smooth modern soaps are.

So mission accomplished, I believe he is a total convert at this point.

Blackship Grooming has one labeled Captain Joe, which is their coffee offering. I like it a lot and is a very good vegan offering in my opinion. They even add a nice touch by including a coffee bean in the center of the soap when you first open it. Great scent on it, more coffee and less sweet.
