Long story short, I just saw Chiseled Face is sold on Amazon. Can anyone say FREE SHIPPING? I've been wanting to try their Pine Tar soap hoping for a nice smokey scent. When I was on the product page I decided to scroll down to read the reviews. Not that it would influence me wanting to try it. This was the first review and it was amusing enough I thought I'd share.

Good ingredients. Great lather and slickness.
Cannot stand the smell.
I've lived in the woods for days, wiped my butt with leaves and eaten squirrel I've killed and cleaned myself.
Not much bothers me, but this Pine Tar smell does.
Doesn't smell like any pine tar soap, any bit of any coniferous tree (alive or rotting) or any bottle of discount pine scented cleaner I've ever smelled. All of the above smell better than this soap IMO.
Some seem to like it. Not me.

I’m not sure if that review is accurate or not, I’ve not wiped with leaves recently. But I will tell ya the soap doesn’t have a Smokey smell at all. The smell is more of a sour tar scent that can easily get confused for a strange version of tea tree gone bad. I know he uses real pine tar. I’m actually using my tub up now during no shave November to keep my skin happy.

Sounds like I'm okay skipping it. I also am using Grandpa's Pine Tar soap in the shower right now and it's delightfully smokey.

My 2 cents, my opinion. The person who wrote the review on Amazon thought he was clever to me he was childishly stupid.

The soap is very good, I use it along with Ballenclaughs Woodsmen, both these the scents are very different, in fact, quite unique than what is offered in the shaving world (Tallow and Steel also offer unique scents) These are not scents that I use every day, I change brands and scents for each shave. If you're looking for a Fougere scent than stick with one of the many Fougere soaps. As far as Chiseled Face Pine Tar it's a very good soap with a different scent. Now I'll cute, I believe if the Amazon reviewer had not wiped his backside with leaves he would have enjoyed not only the soap but the scent.

Nice thoughts and Welcome to the Cadre. Check out a Pif that may be up your alley

Good points. Clever review aside, I think it’s important to note the difference between pine tar and pine sap or other pine scent.
