Can anyone compare these?

I currently use a Merkur 34C as my daily driver. It’s mild, which allows me to shave daily. however, i have been wanting to find something that is this mild, or close to it, but wouldn’t require so much clean up. Maybe I just need to start looking at new blades, but I think I am needing a new razor.

i have been looking at the following razors:
  • gamechanger .68
  • 6C or 6S
  • timeless .68 (but this would require some major savings time)
my big issue is I need something that will still allow me to shave daily. I am also looking for a rigid holding razor.

can anyone share their experiences with these different razors? I do realize YMMV and blade choice is key as well.

also, if there is another option that you would suggest I am open to suggestions.

thanks!

The 34c is a good razor, it was my first too.

The GC .68 has been my favorite non-adjustable DE for a while now. Smoother than what I remember from the 34c, but still is likely going to require some clean up. I don’t think the GC or the Timeless will do you any better in that regard.

I’ll just say it now...all razors require some clean up for me, even after 3 passes, even the most positive exposure ones (ie - Fatip Piccolo)...if I want that sweet sweet BBS. So I gave up looking for less passes and focused more on looking for solid, smooth shavers.

The 6s/c would probably be the better choice off your list, simply because it comes with multiple options. I wouldn’t rule out the GC if you went for the .84 gap though and a .68 plate a la carte.

Simply, just give you options for any given day, since the plates are interchangeable with the same cap/handle.
Yep, I have and use both the 68 and 84 regularly. I actually use them more than my 6s right now. Something about the rough finish and heavy weight makes the 6s less appealing to me.

RR Mamba 70. This is one of those phantom shavers where the shave is so smooth that you have to check to make sure you loaded a blade. This one always gives me a two pass plus minimal touch up BBS.

The 34C was my daily razor for quite some time. Your preferences seem to match mine.

I’ve tried all of them, but the only one I kept was the 6S/6C. The GC was fine, I just didn’t prefer it, and never reached for it so I sold it.

I use the Rockwell 6s as my daily shaver with plate 3. If I go a day without shaving, then I use plate 4 ( I tried the 6 plate once and it was not what I was looking for in a shave) The ability to customize the plate to your whisker growth and shave type, mild/aggressive, is the thing that appealed to me with the 6S. Also, the option to buy a stainless steel with a matte texture or the chrome with a smooth texture at a lower price is nice. I started with the 6C (now my travel razor) and then moved to the 6S as my daily driver. I don’t have any experience with the other two razors.
