I think there’s more to the “closeness” question than blade geometry alone, but yes, you are correct regarding the blades being very nearly identified...at least at the cutting edge. Closeness/perceived closeness would involve other factors beyond just cutting...because both blades cut. I can imagine (without proof or scientific evidence) that something as minor as the size and polish of the grind leading up to the cutting edge would influence the way the cutting edge interfaces with the skin and cuts hair.
I know MY personal abilty to perceive differences is minimal, I know a bad blade when I find one (Shark...I’m looking at you buddy) and I know when a blade feels exceptionally good in a razor, then every else kinda falls between them. For me, closeness is more influenced by the razor than the blade which tells me angles of attack matter.
