The only B&M news I'm interested in is that Fern cologne will be released in March. Woo hoo!

Meh...I like Maggard's plenty...but a business owner needs to make business decisions that he thinks are brst for his business.

Yes, not something to call for widespread boycotting & hoping others stop supporting B&M.

Here's some good B&M news: the Reserve base is still some of the best shave soap on the planet & I enjoyed watching Josh's video & reactions to the slickness & quality of lather he made. Great stuff!

Agreed. Also, is this B&M selling exclusively through WCS or just a new scent being exclusive? Either way, a business decision like you said Don.

Hmm... seems he is getting reemed for making a business decision.

That was my question as well, but either way it’s his decision to make, and it sounds like that poster is taking it pretty personally.

Also Maggard's has proven themselves. I really doubt they are upset or will see a hit. Maggards is pretty much the Amazon of the shaving world.

I’m sure elaboration will be forthcoming. Either way, Will is steering his own ship I think.

I'm like many in that I believe that Will is going to be making what he deems is the best decision for his company, long term. There may be something going on in the background that we don't know about...who knows. It's not the first time Will's made a decision that many in the shaving community didn't agree with, and I'm sure it won't be the last.

Yeah, this is a non issue as far as I am concerned. A lot of people have exclusive arrangements. Are we speaking the entire line or a collaboration? Either way it’s Will’s right.

So buddy shop at Maggards.

Reading the post it sounds as if the feelings expressed are less about the “exclusive” than the perceived abandonment of reddit. I don’t frequent reddit (I actually have no idea how to purposely access and search reddit, it’s like the dark web to me) and I am not an owner of any B&M products so this news has no impact on my life at all.

From what I have seen the past few months it seems WCS is executing a plan to expand its foot print. WCS is one of few wet shaving product vendors located in California and we lost TWO in 2018 leaving room for the remaining few to expand. I applaud the effort on many levels but I also know that expansion and growth require change and change upsets a lot of people. I recall a conversation here on TSC about B&M’s “frequent” base changes and boundary pushing themes. For the new guy just finding B&M and loving the new themes our conversation must have sounded like a bunch of old curmudgeons bickering about the good old days and kids these days...but to the old curmudgeons the conversation had meaning. It’s all relative.

as far as the business decision goes, it is a two party decision. Not only has Will decided to go exclusive (if that’s the truth), WCS is seeking exclusive sources of product. Again, I applaud the move on WCS part for the potential to claim market share it presents BUT... I can also see how it may end up hurting some small artisans. Regardless, whether it is Maggard’s, WCS or Bullgoose (or Italian Barber etc.) we need places who are willing to put stock on shelves so we can order what we want more efficiently. The threat really is Amazon. They provide a very easy to use “market place” for artisans to sell. The Amazon marketing power can propel small artisans to the stars if the artisan can keep volume up and maintain the ability to profit on small margins. If/when amazon finds the wet shaving community they will add a new dimension of change.

I have it from not so reliable sources that they're just trying to make it easier for Josh to remember where to tell you can buy the soap he's reviewing in his video.
???

I personally don't care because I don't buy B&M stuff anyway. It does frustrate me though when products are only available on some sites and not others. I don't see what sense it makes to be exclusive to one. Many a time I've been ready to buy say 3 different soaps, only to find out one of them isn't available on Maggards and the site that one is on, doesn't have the others. So I end up with a reason to wait and I don't buy anything.

I personally don't care where I get my products from as long as they easy to buy and at a reasonable price. I definitely cannot blame a business man for making a decision which he believes is the right move for his business. I would no more boycott a maker I like for moving their products to an exclusive vendor that cut my own nose off. Good luck to Will, I own 4 of his soap and aftershave sets and I'm glad he's out there working hard!

Much ado about nothing, IMO. Sounds more like that guy has some kind of a personal beef with Will.
