Declaration has announced their autumn releases for the 22nd of this month. All will be in the Icarus base, and along with La Foret de Liguest, (Chatillon Lux collab soap), there will be the following:

Darkfall is one that I missed out on last year, and will be ordering this year. Not sure about the others, however.

The scent description for the Darkfall release from last year is as follows:

"Darkfall is a spicy oriental designed to capture the spirit of fall in the rural south. Agarwood, amber, and benzoin provide a deep, warm base for the cinnamon and clove top notes. Birch tar adds a slight smokiness that represents the ever-present smell of burning leaves that heralds the arrival of fall in Georgia."

Agarwood, Cinnamon, Amber, Clove, Benzoin, Birch Tar, Treemoss

I'll be interested to see how they describe Harmony as they aren't releasing a list of scent notes for any new releases.

I tend to stay away from cinnamon due to reactions. But am curious about the notes on the other two. When should we get descriptions?

Tough to say, Chad. It might be one of those things that you won't know until the day of the release. I'm going to keep an eye on their website in case they post it.

Thanks for the info Josh...

I am sure you saw the news about an A&E soap you were waiting for!

yes...it's going to be pre-ordered here shortly. Not too terribly worried, as it's going to be available when he gets back from England.

I just ordered my first two Icarus base soaps a few days ago and am looking forward to them. Sadly that will probably be my last large soap buy for a bit. I have to get the TSC scent from CBL but then I need to cool it a bit.

Do you have to be a member to do that? I only see it available from an overseas store

Interesting. Do you know what Darkfall actually smells like? I can never accurately guess just looking at notes. I enjoy a good autumn, damp leaf scent.

I've never personally smelled it, but it's a favorite that usually sells out fairly quick. Not sure how much the cinnamon plays a role, or how much the birch tar or moss plays a roll. I know with the oud up front, it's going to be extremely resinous and woody.

I found this description online...it's from thedailylather, to give credit where it's due.

"The scent... We know it's autumnal, but what does that mean? Well, it combines notes of agarwood, amber, treemoss, benzoin, birch tar, cinnamon and clove. Don't freak out at the mention of either cinnamon nor clove. Although they tend to light some people up - they're very much in the background here. The prominent top notes are the leathery smokiness of the birch tar and woodiness of the agarwood and treemoss. It's definitely woodsy, somewhat leafy - but not as green as you might suspect. The amber and benzoin warm it up and that's where the aforementioned cinnamon and clove come in, adding just the right hint of spiciness. Like burning leaves in late fall, the scent truly captures the fall spirit and is, in my opinion... Very intoxicating. Well done!"

I'm intrigued. With that dirtyver as well. I had a sample of the Icarus base, but wasn't too impressed. Possibly I didn't get enough water in it, because the slickness wasn't there. I'd like to give it another shot.

The La Foret de Liguest is a great scent. I have had the salve, and now have the a/s. I will dig up the scent notes.

Edit: This is from the release from last year. I will look a little more for the actual notes.

This modified fougère is darker and richer than TSM Fougère, with cypress and rose highlighting this distinctive scent inspired by the woods that one of the founders of Saint Louis, Pierre Laclede Liguest envisioned would one day become our fair city.

I have the Darkfall (about 2 yrs old) and enjoy it. It has a lot going on, mostly "dark" like Josh describe but the benzoin is an odd addition which adds a bright spot to it. I think this is the only full tub of theirs I have. They have/had a vetiver that was pretty good but I never got a full tub.
