Aristcrat

That is certainly a beauty. I have to admit, I never knew there was such a thing as an adjustable Aristocrat. I really enjoy the shaves I get from my old (1930-1940?) US version and have long wanted to get my hands on an open comb English version...
Cool to see such a pristine pack and razor.

This H3 1962 Aristocrat lays in it’s original state. I lifted the head out of the insert container and the only markings on it are the pressure points of wear where the head touches the container. Mint except for that. Whadaya think should I shave with it. ;) It’s been stored away for the past 12 years since I bought it.
That’s a hard one to answer. It’s clearly “worth” quite a lot more as the untouched specimen that it is, it even has or will historical value to you or others as time goes on...so since you don’t NEED to shave with it you can justify not ever shaving with it. But It’s not like it’s even going to gain so much $ value that it changes your life. Life is about experiences so you could argue Shaving with it will provide several new experiences and maybe a LOT of them.

I usually base my decisions in these cases on what I paid for the item. If I paid a collectors price I would be hesitant to use it, only pulling it out now and then to temp myself. If I paid a users price even knowing it was worth more (but for a $ saying the whole time I can sell this thing for $$$) I am probably going to use it before I ever turn around and sell it.

I have been taking this out of my Gerstner box for years now to take a look and consider the possibility of using it. But then I shave with my Black Beauty and am appeased enough to box up the Aristocrat once again. LOL. Yeah I will probably only get what I paid for it anyway regarding the $ side. So I remain perplexed...

Sell it! .... and buy a house!

Sean, I was fortunate to pick up the same razor about 1 year ago. Although mine was not NOS, it was/is in exceptional shape along with the case that came with it. I chose to use it right away and do not regret the choice. Although I must say I can not tell a difference between the shave it delivers and my user grade slim adjustable. I do, however; get a bit more excited when the Aristocrat Adjustable comes up in the rotation! Congrats on owning such a beautiful specimen.

Yeah I have several straights that were NOS that I immediately started using. My logic came from the idea that the guy I bought it from years ago wanted to keep it NOS until he sold it.
My logic is probably flawed. LOL.

It's a beautiful razor, and an awesome collector's piece. Is it sealed? Is there anyway for you to actually guarantee that nobody ever took it out and used it, other than someone's word? If not, then there's no harm in using it, really.

I own this razor in the case, and mine is in great condition, but without the extras yours has. (If you want one to use, I'll trade you!) 😉 🤪:ROFLMAO:

I've always hated that this razor was called the Aristocrat. You know that saying about lipstick on a pig??? Well, you can gold plate it..... but it's still a slim. Not knocking the slim, if you like it..... but it's nowhere near in the same ballpark as the other Aristocrats. At least when they gold plated the Fatboy, they gave it a different name entirely.
