I tried this new soap yesterday and let me tell you brother, this new A&E formula is a notch above their past great base!! Just superb!! The scent to me is very leather forward and strong, yet not cloying. Fittingly for a shave soap with a Hispanic theme it is rather macho.

I think A&E has catapulted to the forefront of artisan vendors with their superb bases and exquisite sense of taste regarding scents, but I have one fear: that they are turning out so many different scented soaps now they will "flame out" quickly. Yes, I know that in today's market where many buyers have the attention span of an autistic chimp that a vendor has to have their product in the limelight, but I think that can be overdone as one particular vendor does with his bewildering array of bases that require a flow chart to follow and unobtainium status to boot.

I can definitely see this. But I suspect that they have their soap base made in bulk and then develop scents as they go. I'm not much of a leather guy so I will likely pass this scent up. But I love me some A&E!

Peter, (the soap maker for A&E/The Club) does all of his soap making in his house's kitchen, (drives his wife nuts)...not sure how large a batch he makes at a time. But I can definitely agree with you on their performance level. The new base (with yogurt) is absolutely top notch.

Yeah that's the ticket...I wonder if he has seen that old movie "Gaslight". Does his wife look like Ingrid Bergman?

From Rotten Tomatoes: "Gaslight is the story of a beautiful, innocent woman (Ingrid Bergman) who marries a charming man (Charles Boyer) who tries to drive her insane. Boasting a lavish, detailed production that perfectly recreates the Victorian era, Gaslight is one of the greatest psychological thrillers ever made, thanks to Bergman's stellar, Oscar-winning performance."

I think I’ll need to add this one when he releases his new stuff.

From what I am seeing, Charkalis is stepping it up. He previewed a new soap featuring apple brandy (scent notes: Apple Brandy, Jasmine, Rose, Anise, Resins, Hashish, Cannabis, Sandalwood, Oud and Cedarwood) at the recent April NYC Expo event. This new soap will be called Forbidden Fruit and will be available in late May. It Is related to Khalifa and Chasing the Dragon. I don't know if it will be Club only at first but am guessing that to be the case given how he has handled recent releases. Looking at the Club website is daunting for me as the new releases are coming fast and heavy. Ones that interest me include Amy, Oriental Oud and Amber Rose. I have the Amber Rose AS (Amber-Rose-Incense-Tobacco) and it is very nice. I bought it to match up as an AS after using CBL Rosa Bourbonia and Grooming Dept Incense & Rose. It is impossible to keep up with all this.

Yeah...Peter of A&E is definitely doing a number in the scent department. I am interested in almost everything he puts out...sadly I can't buy everything! At least not yet!

I am in the very same boat. I feel like I need to pay attention to products I have on hand. I chose each of them for a reason and those reasons call to me to use the products I have chosen. With the number of quality soaps I already have, I am at my limit for storage so any new acquisitions have to be carefully thought out.
