Very nice collection! I’m assuming that means you’re well into your own honing and whatnot too?

Actually no, i would consider myself very much a novice when it comes to honing. I have done quite a lot of research and i know all the right words to say, so i could fake my way through a conversation if i had to lol, but i am not proficient at it. . I have some hones and have done some, but i dont have a good set up yet. This is something i definitely want to get into more.

It's what keeps me a novice straight shaver......
Yes...also what keeps me only.m using the Feather SS now for open blades... :ROFLMAO:

Yep, sounds like we are in the same boat. I have been using my Feather DX much more often lately and while I have been getting some really, really great shaves off it, I feel like I am missing out by not using my traditional straights as much as I would like too. I would love to find a proficient honer within an hour or two of me who would be willing to sit down with me and really show me the ropes.

It's the alum burn and neck redness for me

That's unfortunate. Like most I have a couple spots on my neck that can give me issues too if I am not careful. I have gotten better at dealing with those areas over the years so they don't bother me too much anymore. I know others have way more problems and issues in that area than I ever did.

Added one this week, well kinda. I have a box of good blades that need scales. this is one from that box. I also made a handful of scales a couple years ago and these were left over and never used. they are kinda thin (top to bottom) and I was not happy with them at the time so I just set them aside. Well, this week I got looking through the project boxes and matched these two up. The blade is a GH Pumacher Black Diamond Wedge. Pinned it up Wednesday and honed it yesterday, shaved with it this morning. I tried something different with the honing - I did an all Lapping Film progression. Worked OK, definitely shave ready.

My anvil is slightly smaller than @ShawnF 's anvil but it is actually very functional for pinning up straight razors (lol). For scale, that is a regular size Zippo lighter next to it, lol.
